Esta semana dará comienzo el 2º Masters 1000 de la temporada, Miami. El torneo comenzará el Miércoles 23 de Marzo y finalizará el 3 de Abril.
Roger Federer vuelve a las pistas después de estar 1 mes y medio de baja debido a una lesión de rodilla, por lo que buscará rodarse y coger nuevamente el nivel de juego en este torneo al que vuelve tras dos años de ausencia. El suizo buscará ganar su 25º Masters 1000 y además sumará puntos ya que no defiende ninguno.

HISTORIA DEL TORNEO
El Masters de Miami es un torneo de tenis que se disputa anualmente en Key Biscayne (Cayo Vizcaíno), en el condado de Miami-Dade de Florida. Es el segundo Masters de la temporada para hombres y un evento Tier I en el circuito femenino.
Es uno de los torneos más importantes de la temporada, y prueba de ello es que es uno de los pocos (además de los Grand Slams) que cuentan con un fixture de más de 64 jugadores, y cuya duración de extiende más de una semana. 96 hombres y 96 mujeres toman parte en la modalidad de individuales, y 32 parejas disputan el torneo de dobles, a lo largo de 12 días de competencia.
Fundado en 1985, el torneo se llamó originalmente Lipton International Players Championships. En el 2000, el cambio de sponsor trajo como consecuencia un nuevo nombre para el evento, que pasó a denominarse Ericsson Open. A partir del año 2002, el torneo llevaba el nombre de NASDAQ-100 Open, hasta el 2007, cuando Sony Ericcson, también principal auspiciador de la WTA, renombra el torneo por Sony Ericsson Open hasta 2015, donde pasa a llamarse actualmente Miami Open presented by Itau. Sin embargo, los medios suelen referirse a él simplemente como Key Biscayne o -en español- Cayo Vizcaíno.
Debido al prestigio y la historia del torneo, y el hecho de que hay competencia masculina y femenina, muchos consideran al Masters de Miami como el sexto evento en importancia en los tours de la ATP y la WTA, luego de los cuatro Grand Slams y la Tennis Masters Cup que se disputa al final de la temporada.

Se disputa en el complejo tenístico " Crandon Park Tennis Center " en Key Biscayne, Miami (EEUU).
El complejo tenístico cuenta con una pista central con capacidad para 13.000 espectadores. También cuenta con 12 pistas exteriores de competición y 6 pistas de entrenamiento.
Se juega en superficie dura.

ResponderEliminarRoger Nadal have says "that the Key is the Stronghest Mental Mind you have and persist" -- what Djokovic use and what I tell you so many times and you have to use it and developed quickly each day more and more -- know in Miami, Monte Carlo and in all your Schedule Tournaments you will Prepared for this year 2016. I think you have to be more Aggresive in your play and don't let anyone impose the rythme of their plays -- only you must do it being very clever and cheating all your Opponents.
